Major Trauma Awareness Week 2025
We are proud to support Day One Trauma Support’s flagship initiative – Major Trauma Awareness Week 2025. For those who suffer life-changing injuries, the journey of recovery can be long, challenging, and isolating. Day One Trauma Support provides a vital lifeline from the very first day of injury, offering practical, emotional, and financial help for as long as it takes. Their work ensures that no survivor of major trauma has to face recovery alone.
Our Client Lucie
Serious Injury, James Tomlinson, is a passionate advocate for Day One. After suffering devastating injuries in a collision with a tractor, Lucie spent 18 months in hospital. From the outset, Day One was by her side, offering essential support during the most difficult time of her life.
Her story is a powerful reminder of how access to dedicated services can transform a survivor’s outlook, helping them to rebuild their life with dignity, hope, and strength.

Launch of Major Trauma Awareness Week
To mark the start of the campaign, James Tomlinson, Director of Serious Injury, and Senior Solicitor Jane Bedford attended Day One’s launch event.
Reflecting on the evening, James said:
“Thank you to Day One for inviting myself and Jane to represent Bond Turner at this event. We are proud to support the Major Trauma Awareness Week initiative. The work, Day One delivers every day is invaluable, and listening to the personal and heartfelt stories shared during the evening made it even more apparent that this level of care is essential for our clients.”

Day One’s Chief Executive, Lucy Nickson, spoke about the lack of dedicated support available to trauma survivors once they leave hospital. Navigating life with a serious injury – whether visible or invisible – can be overwhelming, and services like Day One provide a safety net at the time it is needed most.
The evening also included inspiring stories from survivors such as stuntman Joe Watts, who sustained a severe brain injury after a fall on the set of Fast & Furious 9. His resilience and determination to rebuild his life deeply resonated with all who attended.

From Day One to Settlement – Seminar in Manchester
Bond Turner colleagues also attended Day One’s insightful seminar, From Day One to Settlement, at the Manchester Civil Justice Centre. Hosted alongside Cobden House Chambers, the event raised funds for the charity and featured powerful talks from trauma survivors, as well as leading legal and judicial voices including HHJ Bird and Marc Willems KC.
Bond Turner’s Hamida Khatun, Director of Serious Injury (Bolton Office), Jane Bedford, Melanie Burden, Alia Arif, Mark Flavell and Liza Uddin all attended, hearing from trauma survivors who shared their own personal stories.
The seminar also explored how the Court is taking proactive steps to improve access to justice for catastrophic accident victims – including speeding up interim payment applications to provide financial support when it is most urgently needed.

Go Orange Day
Our team also joined in with Go Orange Day – raising awareness by wearing orange in solidarity with trauma survivors. A simple but powerful act, Go Orange highlights the message that hope, community, and compassion can make a vital difference to someone rebuilding their lives after serious injury.

Our Commitment
At Bond Turner, we know first-hand the challenges that clients face after catastrophic injuries. Day One Trauma Support plays a pivotal role in improving the quality of life especially after survivors leave hospital – and we are proud to stand alongside them.
As Major Trauma Awareness Week 2025 shines a light on the power of hope and community, we remain committed to ensuring that our clients have access to the very best legal, medical, and emotional support every step of the way.
