As shirt sponsors it was great to see the huge level of support given to the game by both those taking part and the 3,500 attendees.
The star-studded match saw celebrities and famous faces from across Merseyside rally together for the event organised by Southport Hesketh Round Table.

‘This City Is Ours’ star James Nelson-Joyce joined former world champion boxer Liam Smith with a host of footballing royalty to give the crowd a good-natured goal fest.

The three bereaved families were guests of Bond Turner and it was clear to see the huge warmth and love they are all being offered as they continue to navigate the loss of their girls.
Elsie and Alice’s dads David and Sergio took part in the game on the Blue team, with both scoring in a suspense-filled penalty shoot-out, which eventually saw their team take the victory.

Whilst the day was all about hope and positivity it was important to pause to remember and there was a moving minutes silence before the crowd broke out into a period of applause for all those who continue to be affected by last year’s events.

The families legal representative for the Southport public Inquiry, Chris Walker, Director at Bond Turner, said:
“We were privileged to be able to sponsor both team shirts in what was a great event yesterday. The families have all felt very strongly about the level of support they have been given from the community and it was lovely for them to know that they are very much still in everyone’s thoughts.

“The whole day was a real celebration of community spirit, whilst ensuring that all of the families affected by last year’s horrific events are not forgotten.
“As legal representatives for the three bereaved families, and being part of the Southport community in general, we can’t thank Southport FC and the Round Table enough for putting on such a great family day. Seeing everyone turning up, paying on the doors, buying merchandise, raffle tickets and bidding on the auctions was a reminder for us all of what pulling together in the face of adversity looks like.”
